Creative writing group relaunched

The Finn-Brit Players' creative writing group has been relaunched after a short break.

The group meets about once a month, but additional sessions may be arranged for specific projects. For example, if someone would like to workshop a script.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday 2 November at 4 pm in Café Engel's backroom (Aleksanterinkatu 26).

All kinds of creative texts in English are welcome: plays, screenplays, monologues, dialogues, poetry, flash fiction, short stories, and even novels. In addition, we have a monthly assignment that we like all attendees to complete. The next assignment is to write a sketch for a Christmas party. The sketch should be 3–6 minutes long and use no more than three actors. Don't be afraid to be provocative, but don't be offensive.

If you would like to join us as a new member, please contact Zoë (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for more information. IMPORTANT If you don't get in touch, you won't be able to participate properly, as you won't be able to submit any texts or receive anybody else's texts. We don't read texts aloud at meetings unless there is a special reason to do so.

The deadline for text submissions is Sunday 26 October, so do get in touch sooner rather than later! Anyone may attend one meeting to get a feel for the group. However, if you'd like to attend further meetings, you'll have to become a paid-up member.

Please email Zoë if you have any questions. Welcome!

The Finn-Brit Players' new creative writing group

The Finn-Brit Players will be launching a creative writing group in February.

All kinds of creative texts are welcome: plays, screenplays, monologues, dialogues, poetry, flash fiction, short stories, and even novels.

The group will meet about once a month at the Helsinki Finnish-British Society. Additional sessions may, however, be arranged for specific texts. For example, if someone would like to workshop a script.

Anyone may attend one meeting to get a feel for the group. However, if you want to attend further meetings, you will have to become a paid-up member of the Players. Note that only members can submit pieces for feedback.

More information about the practical workings of the group will be sent to all those who register for the launch meeting.

If you are interested in attending the launch meeting, please register with Zoë (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by Sunday 3 February. We will then arrange a date that suits as many people as possible.

You can also email Zoë if you have any questions.
